It's back to working toward the next exhibition... the Inky Crows are exhibiting in Sussex at Christmas. I need to move on from this Red Barn story soon, if only because I am sure no one will buy a screenprint about a murder, but I really want to start a series of imagined book covers for my favourite English heroes and villians (the theme of the exhibition) and Maria Martin and William Corder deserve their own jacket, surely?
These next few pages are my initial ideas in the sketchbook last night.

My daughter, Mila was still asleep when I got up this morning, so I took my sketchbook back to bed and drew next to her while she slept. I was trying to draw a child that could be a boy or a girl, but finding it a bit tricky ended up sketching Mila instead. I may also have been avoiding developing this character, because, clearly, it was too early in the day to be drawing hands...
Mila woke up and sensibly sat doing a dot-to-dot book under the blankets. Maybe that is the way forward?
